Peter Ross,
a Minnesota native, considers himself fortunate to have
grown up on a lake in a beautiful area between Saint
Paul and the Saint Croix River. There were plenty
of natural areas to explore, from farmlands to woodlands,
and from marshes to Lakes. He spent a lot of his
childhood looking for bugs under rocks, and marveling
at the birds in the trees, and, of course, drawing. He
graduated with a Bachelor Degree from the University
of Minnesota-Duluth with a major in biology and a minor
in art history. A strange combination, perhaps, but nature
and art are his passions. Peter started drawing at an
early age, and considers himself to be largely self-taught.
He paints mainly in acrylics, and enjoys working on paper,
canvas, or board. Nature is his chief influence, but he
is not tied too tightly to scientific accuracy. I feel
that my imagination, and my sense of design should
play key roles in whatever I create.
